Anne Boleyn was the second cause for the break with Rome. She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Boleyn and previously lived in France before returning to England in 1522. Henry was interested in her because she was pregnant, which meant she had a possibility of conceiving a son. He wanted to marry her but he couldnt, as he was still married to Catherine.



Henry and Anne married in private, on 25th January 1533. The Pope did not grant him a divorce, in September 1527 because of the religion Catholicism; consequently he had to break with Rome to change the religion into Protestantism in gild to get divorced. Annes family wanted the marriage to take come forth so that she could run queen. As a result of this, they support the break with Rome, and wanted Catherine gone, so that Anne could take her place to become successful. Since Anne married Henry, the archbishop, Thomas Crammer who had declared the marriage was ex- communicated, from the Church alongside Henry by the Pope in July 1533.
