There was a lot to take in for this first week of readings and the subject has forever changed me. I didnt imbibe how much I would learn ab out the subject until I started the readings. Human trafficking is a broad problem that is constantly miss in our day to day lives. Its a topic that should be brought to everyones attention especi tout ensembley in academia.
The introduction of Not For trade focuses on Finding Slavery in My Own Backyard, which is merely what this book has make me suck. There is a quote that stood out to me and has stuck with me since reading it. It says, Trafficking thrives in the shadows. And it can be easy to rout out it as something that happens to someone else, somewhere else. But that is not the case. Trafficking is a crime that involves every nation on earth, and that includes our own. This quote relates to my ain experience and how it grasped the concept of this mystery crime. It wasnt so hard for me to moot that this was happening in the U.S., but to learn that Kentucky has its shargon of forgiving trafficking is hard for me to believe and understand. So many questions come to sagaciousness as to why this is happening. Or why havent I heard of this issue before?



In all reality, Ive been seeing it all along but I didnt realize what it was called or what was actually happening right in the metropolis I live in. When it hits so close to home its nonetheless harder to dismiss the prospects of this only happening to other people in other places, not me. The massage shops in Richmond are a great example of this issue. I always thought of it as a place where women were trying to make rapid money by giving happy endings. Just belatedly I realized that these women are being trafficked right crop up the street from my house, job, and school! I didnt look at the abundant picture and think about why they were doing these things or who made them do it.
